Ars Regia Season Ticket - "Mozart: The Marriage of Figaro (Alba Regia Symphony Orchestra)

2027. March 09. (19:00)

Vörösmarty Theater
Székesfehérvár

In the 2026/27 season, the Alba Regia Symphony Orchestra continues its highly successful Mozart series with a production of The Marriage of Figaro. Composed in 1786, the four-act opera is based on the comedy of the same name by the celebrated French playwright Beaumarchais. In the story, the Countess and the quick-witted valet Figaro lead the household in thoroughly humiliating the hot-blooded, womanising Count. Because of its undisguised mockery of the aristocracy, the play was initially banned by the censors in France and later in several other countries, including Austria. Mozart and his librettist Lorenzo Da Ponte, however, recognised its potential as a brilliant opera buffa and succeeded in persuading Emperor Joseph II to authorise its adaptation. While the creative duo transformed the serious social criticism of the original play into a genuine Italian comedy, they also created one of the most magnificent comic operas of all time: an unsurpassed masterpiece of musical characterisation.

Presented as part of the Ars Regia Subscription Series, the production will be staged at the Vörösmarty Theatre, featuring renowned singers and the Alba Regia Symphony Orchestra. It will be conducted and directed by Péter Dobszay, recipient of the Junior Prima and Artisjus Awards.
