Quodlibet: the simultaneous performance of well-known tunes for entertainment purposes. It is a lot of fun, as well as a case of artful counterpointing; for modern listeners, it allows a view into the past of European music. At the concert, Studio5 perform five world premieres on characteristic instruments of previous musical periods. Many of the musicians are experts of the historically informed performance practice, five different chamber groups will prove to be perfect vehicles for new music. The composers of Studio5 – Máté Bella, Bence Kutrik, Árpád Solti, Roland Szentpáli, András Gábor Virágh – consider it important to “create a young, informed audience that is aware of the values of its musical tradition.” They seek to “generate new concerts on the basis of the European musical tradition, ones that build bridges of a high artistic quality between tradition and innovation, convention and progression.”
